Fishing Report 5/2/14

Ahhh, the first weekend in May. There’s nothing quite like the mad scramble of everyone trying to get the most out of those coveted 2 days of shrimping around Camano Island. Shrimping is open in 8-1 & 8-2 from 7am-3pm on Saturday May 3rd and Wednesday May 7th. Additional days will be announced after counts are in and the quota is checked.

Winter Blackmouth fishing closed on April 30th but Salmon will be re opening at various times and in various areas throughout the Summer so stay posted. Results from our running derby will be posted as soon as they are available but I can tell you that Mike Navarre won the grand prize with a 25# behemoth on the last day!

In the meantime, Lingcod is now open in 8-1 & 8-2 from May 1th – June 15th with a daily limit of 1 per person, 26″-36″. You may not fish for any bottom fish deeper than 120′ UNLESS you are fishing for Halibut in which case legal size Lingcod can be retained. Remember: Rockfish may not be retained at any time!

Halibut will be openĀ in 8-1 & 8-2 May 9th – June 7th with a daily limit of 1 per person, but the specific days vary week to week so check online or in the new regulation booklet before you head out.

Speaking of which, the new regulation booklets are finally here so don’t forget to grab one when you come in to get your licenses and gear.
